After “sitting back” for over twenty years, I decided that it was time to try and get more actively involved with MO gymnastics.  My background in this sport includes being the parent of a competitive gymnast (the most difficult job), coaching and owning All American Gymnastics.  I have owned All American for thirteen years and prior to that I owned Cape Gymnastics Center and worked at All Star and St. Louis Spirits.

MO gymnastics has made incredible progress in the last five years and I really believe that we have a lot of people that want to see this continue.

The two areas that I would like to see as priorities are:

The state committee needs to focus on the experience ALL of our gymnasts have.  It’s easy to lose sight and concentrate on the “top” kids.  Having gymnasts go on to Regionals, Westerns and Nationals make MO gymnastics stronger and it’s a great experience for those gymnasts and coaches.  I feel it’s just as important for all MO gymnasts, who may never make it to that level, to have that great experience.   This is the largest percentage of gymnasts in the state and by putting some emphasis on them; it could increase numbers, which in turn would eventually grow numbers at every level.

Another area that I feel needs to be addressed is coaches training.  Although I now only coach the optional levels, I’ve coached every level and attend a lot of compulsory meets.  I see a real need for the state to work together to provide more education and training, especially for new coaches.   I’m amazed at what incredible coaches we have in Missouri and would love to see their talents utilized for this.  There has always been a hesitancy to work together (experienced and inexperienced coaches) as a state.  There needs to be a change with planning professional development opportunities in the state and also increase participation.

Thank you for the opportunity to hopefully contribute to MO gymnastics.

Nominee:     Toby Essenpries
Region:        West Representative - 2

Along with my wife Bethany, I am the owner and coach of Missouri Elite Gymnastics Academy (MEGA) in Belton, MO, which is located on the south side of the Kansas City metro area.  I graduated from Mizzou in 2001, BSBA in Finance, and shortly thereafter met my wife and began coaching gymnastics.  We currently coach all levels of our team.  We also have a 5 year old daughter (who will be a level 4 next year, so I’m going to try to just be a “parent” at that level).
In 2009, I decided to run for a spot on the committee to maybe bring a fresh “outside“ perspective and to help make sure Missouri kept moving forward.  Although, it took a while to get my feet wet, I feel like I have helped move us in a positive direction but there is more to do.  As a gym owner, coach, and parent I plan to be involved in gymnastics in this state for a long time.

Thanks!

I live in Springfield with my husband of 12 years and our 8 year old daughter.  I was a competitive gymnast in my younger years finishing as a Class I gymnast.  I have been with Springfield Gymnastics for over 20 years.  I am the Program Director and Team coach for Levels 5 - 10.  I have been judging for 16 years and currently hold a Level 9 rating.  I have been meet director for numerous successful meets including the Missouri Winter Games, the Inaugural Level 3-4 Fall State Meet and  the 2011 Missouri State Championships.

I believe that serving on the MOSAC is a privilege.  I want to represent  Missouri gymnastics with the input of it's constituents.  The MOSAC is elected by the pro members of Missouri for the pro members of Missouri.  It would be an honor to represent the South district of Missouri on the State committee.

I've had the privilege of serving on the Missouri Administrative Committee for the last 6 years and hope that I can continue to represent you there. I have been coaching gymnastics from beginner all the way through elite for almost 20 years. During that time I've seen a lot of changes in this sport including it's size, competitive parody and organization. I am excited about the future of Missouri gymnastics. While I am not a gym owner, I do coach all levels at Missouri Valley Gymnastics in Ozark, Missouri with an entire coaching team. This gives me a unique perspective as I communicate with parents, gym owners, coaches and athletes.

Having worked in this state and others as well as in this region and others, I've seen a lot. Having served on the committee and having been involved in Missouri gymnastics I appreciate how passionate our coaches and athletes are concerning this sport and it's continued growth within our state and share that passion.

Long live Prep Opt!!

Thank you for the opportunity to serve Missouri gymnastics.

Nominee:     Lisa Curran
Region:        Scorekeeper

Image as described aboveAfter being approached by severel collegues to run for the Scorekeeper position I am honored to have the opportunity to give back to the State of Missouri and look forward to promoting Missouri athletes.

I have hosted meets of all levels and understand the importance of timely and clear communication of score reporting and result posting.

I have coached every level for over 20 years and understand the importance of each athlete and their progression through this wonderful sport. My experience and understanding of the sport will help to make good decisions that benefit the athletes and their coaching staff.

I look forward to helping everyone in the state grow professionally, personally, and most of all seeing our athletes reach their goals.

Thank you!

Nominee:     Robert Tillotson
Region:        Scorekeeper

The past 6 years I have spent on the committee has gone by really fast.  I've met a lot of wonderful people along this journey.  Some I can truly call my dear friends.  Thank you all for being so good to me.  It has been my honor to serve the membership, the athletes, and the parents of this noble sport.  The scorekeeper position is the most demanding and time consuming of all the positions with the exception of the State Chair.  I believe I have performed my duties at a high level over an extended period of time.  My goal is to ensure that the committee adopts rules and policies that can be followed regardless of the persons involved in any situation that may arise.  I believe that the committee is well on its way to doing so.  We all have been a part, past and present members, of making the governing of our State an easier task for future committee members.

I would like the chance to serve at least one more term as Scorekeeper.  I ask for your vote to do so.  If you think you are better served by someone else, by all means vote for them.  Either way it has been a great ride and I appreciate you all!
